The Society for Lending Comforts to the Sick is an entirely donation-based organization of individuals who seek to comfort our community’s infirm and ailing. Since 1906, the Society has loaned hospital and recuperative equipment free-of-charge to anyone needing assistance.

We warehouse recuperative equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and commodes. Anything the patient might need to make their home-care more comfortable. 

You can have the equipment you need immediately - no need to wait for Medicare!

Simply stop by during our Lending Hours on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings 4:00pm-7:00pm, and  Sat 9-12 noon.  We are happy to serve you.

The members of the Society's Board of Directors and volunteers maintain the operating of the Thrift Shop every week throughout the year, from which Lending Comforts realizes a great deal of funds through our Friends Letter and Thrift Shop supporters.

Lending Comforts sends out a "Friends Letter" appeal once a year for additional donations to maintain the Loaning Closet and purchase of new equipment.

After purchase of new equipment and the cost of upkeep for Lending Comforts, any additional funds are donated to other charitable organizations in Smithtown to further impact our community.
