The Society for Lending
Comforts to the Sick is a group of
Smithtown residents which seeks to comfort our community’s infirm and
ailing. Since 1906, we have loaned hospital and recuperative equipment
free-of-charge to anyone living in the Township of Smithtown.
We warehouse all manner of
hospital equipment -- everything from wheelchairs to walkers to crutches --
anything the recuperating patient might need to make their home-care more
comfortable.
You can have the equipment you
need immediately -- no need to wait for Medicare!
Simply stop by during our
Lending Hours Mon.-Fri. 6-8pm, Sat. 8-10am or call for an appointment.
We are happy to serve you
The Society is entirely
volunteer-run. We rely completely upon the generosity of Smithtown
residents who realize the value of having a local organization to whom they
can go when a need arises. Our funds come from generous donations of our
friends and supporters. Your donation is
tax-deductible!
We also raise much needed support
through our Thrift Shop which is open on Tuesday mornings from 9am -
1pm all year long. Your tax-deductible donation of new or
gently-used clothing and household items will be gratefully accepted during
Thrift Shop hours.
After the purchase and upkeep of
new equipment, any additional funds go back to our community. We donate to
other healthcare-related organizations in Smithtown to further impact our
community.
